Earning your certificate or degree from a cosmetology school in Texas will prove to potential employers and clients that you’ve been trained in all aspects of personal care, including:  personal hygiene, hair cutting and hair styling, skin care, scalp care, facial massaging and more. Some beauty schools may offer more specialized services such as manicures, pedicures, electrolysis, and even courses in biology, anatomy, and physiology. Formal cosmetology coursework generally includes a mix of classroom studies and practice on actual customers at the schools location.

Cosmetology school graduates find work in a number of different professions, including:  hair dressing, barber, manicurist, pedicurist, shampooer, or even as an electrologist. The vast majority of Texas graduates are self-employed, usually working a chair as part of a larger salon operation.  About 90% of cosmetologists work in hair styling related professions, with the remainder finding work as pedicurists, manicurists, or skin care specialists.
